The Engineers Without Borders Nebraska Professional Chapter is a nonprofit organization made up of engineering and non-engineering professionals who are interested in orchestrating positve change.
The professional chapter was started in 2009 and has made several trips to Uganda for project development and installation. Visit our Projects page for more information.
Current officers are the following:
President - Taylor Wiese Lizcano
Taylor is the current President for the Engineers Without Borders Nebraska Professional Chapter, and previously served as the Technical Lead for the chapter’s Malagana Colombia Project. He has been an active member of EWB since 2017. He received a Masters of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Biological Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Taylor is a Licensed Professional Civil Engineer in Nebraska, and currently works as a Water Resources Engineer for HDR, Inc. In his free time he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors with his wife, Susana.
Treasurer - Barbara Johnston
Barbara acts as the treasurer for the Engineers Without Borders Nebraska Professional Chapter and has worked as a civil engineer at Snyder & Associates for 4 years. She earned a BS in Civil Engineering with a minor in Humanitarian Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and an MS in Civil Engineering with a focus in Engineering for Developing Communities from the University of Colorado – Boulder. She was involved in her college EWB chapter and acted as Project Manager for their pedestrian bridge project in Nicaragua. She has been involved with the EWB-NE chapter since 2017 and traveled to Malagana, Colombia in December of that year. She loves to travel, spend time with her pets, read, and explore new music.
Secretary & Public Relations - Jeff Weides
Jeff is a Nebraska native that graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. He currently works as an Operations Supervisor at a food ingredient manufacturing facility. Prior to that, he worked as a project manager, leading projects involving capital expansion, process optimization and operational reliability. He is the Secretary for the Engineers Without Borders Nebraska Professional Chapter and is a Planning, Mentoring, Evaluation, and Learning lead for the ongoing Malagana, Colombia project. He’s been involved with EWB-NE since 2015 and has been a member of the Officer, Technical, and Travel teams. He is a father of one dog, plays soccer/other sports, and enjoys new places and experiences.
